Running a business is a marathon, not a sprint

In the 1980s, Clem Chambers created some of the world's first computer games. This industry now earns $100bn a year but Clem's firm, CRL, didn't last long enough to reap the full rewards. Now, he runs a business launching crypto-currencies on the blockchain. The lesson, he says, is that business is a marathon, not a sprint.

How To Improve Your Business

1. Use tech to give patients the customer experience.

2. Tech talks now; get in on the conversation.

3. Social media and e-commerce are the keys to growth.

4. Data drives satisfaction, but privacy drives success.

Exercise is an important part of my life. I hope it is for you as well. But sometimes we overdo it and try to get in shape in one fail swoop! Maybe you haven’t run in a while and you get out there and say to yourself, “I’m going to run a full sprint today!” You give it everything you have….and then you break down with a torn muscle and can’t exercise at all for months. Unfortunately, a lot of people–especially business owners–live their entire lives this way, not just their exercise habits. They don’t pace themselves in their daily actions and behaviors and instead go full-bore. Naturally, they soon burn out. What I say to these people and to all business owners is that success is a marathon, not a sprint.

Every single day you need to be consistent with your practices, with revenue-producing activities, and with providing value to your clients. Anything of importance in your life needs to be practiced on a regular basis, whether it’s studying, writing, researching new markets or networking with other entrepreneurs. Whatever it is, you need to work on it, step by step, every single day. This has to be independent of your mood, too. It shouldn’t matter whether you’re on top of the world or down in the dumps–success requires persistence, not reacting inconsistently to your own temporary emotional states.

Thirty years in business have taught me this value of persistence and consistency in my day to day operations. And that is the secret to success: not burning out and quitting on yourself–devoting yourself to your business as a practice every single day.

Just continue your business, when you make efforts, then you will own what you want and achieve your business goals. Come on !!!
