The Burnsville wrestling team had a couple of place winners at the Ethan Herman Memorial Tournament in Chanhassen Dec. 8.Junior Gavin Osterhaus earned his way to the top of the medal stand, winning the 160-pound title with three victories. Junior Matt Gerner finished fourth at 152 pounds for the Blaze.Burnsville ended up 13th in the team standings with 42 points. Third-ranked Owatonna won the title (210), followed by Wayzata (161.5), Lakeville North (122.5), Buffalo (120), Mankato West (113) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (90).Burnsville went into the tourney losing two South Suburban Conference duals at the Farmington triangular Dec. 6, falling to the host Tigers (48-31) and Lakeville South (61-15).The Blaze is back on the mat Dec. 13 at home versus Bloomington Kennedy at 7 p.m. The Blaze will compete in the Kenyon Wanamingo Invitational Dec. 15 at 10 a.m.Burnsville will compete in another SSC triangular Dec. 20 at Lakeville North, taking on the host Panthers and No. 1 Shakopee starting at 5 p.m.Meanwhile, Osterhaus has won two 160-pound titles this winter. He also won that weight in the Maple Grove Invitational Dec. 1. In Chanhassen, he earned a 7-2 decision in the title match over Jacob Ackerman of Sauk Rapids-Rice.Osterhaus won by major decision in the first two rounds, 9-1 in the quarterfinals and 8-0 in the semifinals.

Gerner won his opening match by a 7-1 decision, before losing in the semifinals and the match for third place.Other Blaze wrestlers who competed: sophomore Christian Lopez at 113 pounds (1-2 record), ninth-grader Xavier Ripplinger at 120 (0-2), sophomore Josh Loredo at 126 (1-2), sophomore Tristen Larsen at 182 (2-2), sophomore Michael Gogue at 195 (0-2), junior Joel Joubert at 220 (0-2) and sophomore Devon Spencer at heavyweight (0-2).
